Taya Jones
Student Intern Counselor
Taya Jones is a graduate student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Grand Canyon University, where she is completing her clinical training as a counseling intern. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Sciences Education from Utah State University and brings both professional training and lived experience to her work.
Taya works with adults, couples, teens, and children. Through her experience with youth in her community, she understands the challenges of identity development, changing relationships, and life transitions. Her goal is to help clients move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and direction.
Her approach is rooted in family systems theory, with a focus on how relationships and past experiences shape present patterns. She integrates Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) to help clients shift unhelpful thinking, build on strengths, and develop practical tools for everyday life.
With over 20 years of experience raising five children and managing a household, Taya brings a deep understanding of family life and personal growth. She creates a warm, down-to-earth space where clients feel comfortable being themselves and supported in making lasting change.
Outside of counseling, Taya enjoys spending time with her family, weightlifting, hiking, and traveling when possible. She also loves a good psychological thriller and is always up for popcorn and a movie.
